The LDR3.V25K is a complete 3 input, 2 output single-ended passive preamp kit built around our most advanced LDR.V25 Preamp Controller board. When completed, the V25K kit will have a sonic performance the matches many high-end audiophile preamps at a fraction of the cost.

This kit is sonically identical to our LDR3.V25 Passive Preamp designed around our latest V25 preamp controller with the only differences being the front panel material, and the grade of RCA jack and hookup wire in the base kit model (can be upgraded at additional cost).

All circuit boards are provided fully built and tested. No soldering of components to circuit boards required.

The kit includes all the parts needed to assemble a complete audiophile grade passive preamp including enclosure, front/rear panels, interactive OLED display, RCA jacks, power supply, manual encoder/knob, remote, wire etc. We provide detailed online information and assembly instructions that even first time DIY builders should have little trouble following.

The LDR V25 preamp controller (the “V25”) is a software driven audio volume controller and source input switcher for high performance passive and active audio preamps. The LDR1.V2 Passive Preamplifier is a single RCA input, singled-ended audiophile passive (unity gain) preamplifier complete with remote control. Equipped with dual (parallel) RCA outputs, the LDR1 is designed around Tortuga Audio’s latest generation light dependent resistor (LDR) technology.

The LDR1 is a single input version of our popular LDR3.V2 Passive Preamp and benefits sonically from having eliminated all input switching hardward.

The LDR1 comes in black or silver anodized and also clear lacquered bamboo. It comes stock with Cardas gold RCA jacks.

Firmware update service

All Tortuga Audio preamps models run on software driven microcontrollers. In embedded applications such as audio, software is often referred to as firmware because it is firmly embedded into the permanent memory and is typically not easily accessible or simple to update.

Like all software driven systems, we will occasionally release firmware updates that users can load into their preamps. For those who would rather have us update their firmware for them instead of doing it themselves, we are happy to offer this service for a nominal fee plus our cost to ship the unit back to you.

The PS12B Battery Power Supply is a 6.8Ah 12 volt battery power supply with integral smart charger for powering Tortuga Audio’s DC powered passive preamps with the ultimate low noise “zero ripple” DC power supply. The PS12B can also be used for any audio application that can benefit from a clean ~12 volt DC power source. Capable of providing up to 400 ma of current, the PS12B is best suited for applications requiring 200 ma or less.

LDR3x.V2.1 Auto-Cal High Precision Op Amp Upgrade

We are no longer selling this item due to it being discontinued by the manufacturer. Unless and until we identify a compatible op amp with superior performance, we will continue to use the LT1014 as our standard op amp for auto-calibration feedback.

This is a high precision, low noise upgrade to the auto-calibration (auto-cal) op amp used in the V2.1 version of the LDR3x Passive Preamp Controller.

The current op amp upgrade is the Burr-Brown (TI) OPA4251 quad op amp. This is a very low noise op amps with 120 db power supply rejection ratio.

The benefits of this upgrade include:

1) Ability to power the LDR3x.V2.1 board with up to 30 VDC supply voltage (vs. stock ~12 VDC)

2) Improved overall accuracy of your V2.1 preamp’s attenuation and channel balance which is critical to sound stage and stereo imaging

3) Improved speed, accuracy and reliability of the auto-cal process.
